2 of 3Rebuild of My 1978 Chevy Blazer
This is the rear passenger side quarter panel during the final stages of the sanding process.
With the rear of the blazer now finished, I moved to the front of the truck to tackle the rust around the windshield. The windshield was carefully removed and moved to an area where it would not be damaged.
With the windshield removed, you can start to see the extent of the rust damage.
The fenders and hood were removed to allow better access to the windshield frame.
The doors and dash cover was also removed to allow interior access to the window frame.
Here is a better picture of the rust damage around the passenger side window frame.

New metal was shaped and welded into the driver's side window frame.
New metal was carefully cut, shaped and welded into the passenger side window frame. Since no Bondo was to be used in this area, I had to be carefull and take extra time in the welding and grinding process.
After all of the welding was finished, the window frame primed.
The window frame then received several coats of the final paint colour to protect the repaired area. This area had to be painted now as the window woudl be installed when the truck was repainted.
The blazer was then fully reassembled. This was the stage where final adjustments would be made for door and hood alignment. All panel gaps were checked and adjusted as necessary.
